Remora
Waves SuperRack follows the desk's selected channel

What it does
SuperRack sits beside the desk running the plug-ins, and it has no idea which channel the engineer is working on. So every time they move to a new channel, somebody reaches over and finds the right rack by hand. Remora watches the desk instead, and when a channel is selected it puts SuperRack on that channel's rack.
It finds the rack by name: a channel called head1 gets the rack called head 1, and lec 1 and lec 2 both get the one called Lec. Anything the names don't sort out can be set by hand on the Channels tab. It reads the desk and never changes it: everything it sends a console is a read request, and the code refuses to send anything else.
SuperRack's MIDI can only step one rack at a time and never says where it is, which isn't much to work with. With Accessibility, Remora reads the rack's name off SuperRack's own window and steps straight there, 2 ms a step, and checks it landed. Without it, it counts.
On the CL and QL it follows SEL. Yamaha doesn't document a selected channel on the DM series, so on a DM7 or DM3 it follows cue, with the desk's [CUE] > [SEL] Link on, and a RIVAGE PM follows cue A or B. The Qu follows PAFL with Sel follows PAFL. On an X32, M32 or Wing it reads the selected channel over OSC. dLive, Avantis and SQ can't say which channel is selected, so there a soft key per rack does the job instead. Everything but the QL is experimental for now.
SuperRack can also be driven over ProLink, as a LAWO mc² console does: Remora plays the console, SuperRack dials in and lists its racks, and there's no MIDI mapping to keep in step. It has run against SuperRack Performer, though not yet on a show. The desk can drive other plug-in hosts the same way: REAPER, Ableton Live, Logic Pro, MainStage, LiveProfessor, Gig Performer, VSTHost, Cantabile and VST Live, all experimental.
- Follows the selected channel on a Yamaha CL or QL, over the editor port, with channel names over RCP
- Drives SuperRack over MIDI, or over ProLink as a LAWO mc² console does, reading the rack list from SuperRack itself
- Experimental: Yamaha DM7, DM3 and RIVAGE PM (following cue), Allen & Heath Qu (following PAFL), Behringer X32 / Midas M32 and Wing (over OSC), and channel names and learnable soft keys from dLive, Avantis and SQ
- Experimental: nine more plug-in hosts: REAPER, Ableton Live, Logic Pro, MainStage, LiveProfessor, Gig Performer, VSTHost, Cantabile and VST Live
- Finds each channel's rack by name, with a per-channel override, or (experimental) by following its audio through the desk's patch and a Dante Controller preset
- Reads the rack SuperRack is on through Accessibility, so a move is only as many steps as it needs, 2 ms apart, and a click in SuperRack doesn't throw it
- Learned controls from desk keys, faders, soft keys or any MIDI controller: step racks or plug-ins, go to a given rack, open the rack page, resync, or send SuperRack any CC it can MIDI Learn
- Closes the floating windows of non-Waves plug-ins when the rack, page or plug-in changes, places them over the rack page, and shows the new rack's plug-in after a move
- OSC on UDP 9020 for Companion: next, previous, select by number or name, follow on and off, raw CC
- Writes SuperRack's MIDI Controller mapping for you, byte for byte the file SuperRack exports
Where it stands
Beta, released at v0.4.0 for macOS, signed and notarised. It's been used on a live show with a Yamaha QL1 (V5.70a) and SuperRack Performer 15.15.12.13, and run end to end against the same QL1 after a show: SEL presses, names, rack matching, reading SuperRack's window, the plug-in window guard and the OSC commands. Driving SuperRack over ProLink, new in v0.4.0, has run against SuperRack Performer 15.15.12.13, with every command checked on its screen, but not yet on a show. Every other desk and plug-in host (the Yamaha CL, DM7, DM3 and RIVAGE PM, the Allen & Heath Qu, SQ, dLive and Avantis, the Behringer X32 / Midas M32 and Wing, and the nine other plug-in hosts) is built from the makers' documents and has only met unit tests and stand-ins, so try yours before a show depends on it, and let me know how it goes. The 2 ms step spacing is traced message by message against SuperRack Performer 15.15.12.13 (2 ms is the floor). Not affiliated with Waves, LAWO, or the makers of any desk or plug-in host here.
