What it does
Every other patch here makes the decoder better at decoding. This one turns it round. A USB camera plugged into the PLAY's own port becomes an NDI or SRT source on the network, or goes straight back out of HDMI.
It works because the chip can do more than the product lets it. The hardware video encoder is fitted and switched on, the USB video class driver is already compiled into the kernel, and the vendor's software uses none of it, since a decoder has nothing to encode. bdcam adds a tab to the decoder's own web UI and a small service behind it.
- USB camera in, NDI or SRT out, or straight to HDMI
- Hardware-encoded, so the processor stays largely idle
- A UVC Converter tab added to the decoder's own web UI
- Settings served by a separate process from the streamer, so the page still answers when no camera is attached
Where it stands
Running on a real PLAY, with the tab served and the settings API answering over the network. The video path has only ever had a synthetic source through it, and no camera has been plugged into a unit yet. The repository is private.
